Silk Road Romance Park, a cultural theme park and performance attraction, began trial operations over the weekend in Qingdao, Shandong province.
The project is expected to serve as an important platform for showcasing Silk Road civilizations and promoting cultural exchanges, according to its developers.
It is located in Jiaozhou, a county-level city administered by Qingdao and home to the China-Shanghai Cooperation Organization Local Economic and Trade Cooperation Demonstration Area, also known as SCODA.
According to China Construction Eighth Engineering Division's Fourth Construction Co, which built the project, the park features a performance theater, cultural exhibition halls, a commercial complex, and a visitor service center.
As a key project collaboratively supported by provincial and municipal governments, the park is themed around the Belt and Road Initiative and integrates cutting-edge technologies, such as holographic projection and virtual reality interaction. It is designed as a comprehensive cultural and tourism destination that combines live performances, sightseeing, and immersive cultural experiences.
The project is jointly developed by the administrative committee of the SCODA and Songcheng Performance, China's first performing arts company to go public.
It is scheduled to officially open to the public on June 26.
