A four-day magic show featuring young Chinese performers was staged during the National Day holiday at MGM Shenzhen in Guangdong province, bringing together stage magic, close-up tricks, mime, and acrobatics.
The 2026 MGM Magic Spectacular, held from Oct 4 to 7, was the event's second edition under MGM Asia Pacific's MGM Magic Ecosystem, an entertainment-focused program launched in 2025.
Magician Li Ning, chief magic arts consultant of MGM Asia Pacific and president of the Magic Art Committee of the China Acrobats Association, and the first Chinese winner of Italy's Monte Carlo Golden Wand award, served as the show's planner and director.
The program featured several young Chinese magicians, each presenting a different performance style.
Comedic magician Zheng Miao, who hosted the show, used interactive magic to engage the audience. Zhang Junzhe presented stage magic centered on sleight of hand, incorporating lighting and music.
Zhang Shuangjian, winner of the comedy category at the 12th China Acrobatics Golden Chrysanthemum Award, used mime, physical movement and props to tell stories without dialogue.
Ding Yang, known for her magic dove performances, combined magic and acrobatics in an internationally awarded act, adding a heightened visual element to the show.
Audiences were also invited to participate in select performances, including close-up magic and customized acts. The organizers said the format was designed to extend magic beyond the traditional stage and incorporate interactive elements into the hotel setting.
The MGM Magic Ecosystem held its first major event at MGM Shenzhen. MGM Asia Pacific said it plans to develop magic-related programs further and explore integrating them into hotel stays, dining and leisure activities.
