Mauritius rings in Mid-Autumn with three-day celebration

Mauritius celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival with a three-day cultural showcase, "A Moonment to Remember", hosted by the China Cultural Center in Mauritius and the Charisma Ensemble of the Sichuan Symphony Orchestra.

The series opened on Sept 20 at the University of Mauritius, where Junior Minister of Foreign Affairs Rajen Narsinghen and other distinguished guests gathered for an evening of traditional Chinese music.

On Sept 21, the performances moved to Middlesex University, giving students from 47 countries an opportunity to experience bamboo flute, suona, pipa, and erhu recitals, as well as tai chi, martial arts, dance, calligraphy, painting, and paper-cutting.

The program concluded on Sept 22 with a special concert for nearly 150 Mauritian alumni of Chinese universities. The program featured Chinese classics  including Jasmine Flower, Thoughts on a Tranquil Night, and Blooming Flowers and Full Moon. At the event, The Honourable Kaviraj Sharma Sukon, Minister of Tertiary Education, Science and Research, delivered a speech highlighting the role of cultural exchanges in fostering mutual understanding between the Chinese and Mauritian peoples.

Held as part of the China–Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges, the three-day showcase celebrated the enduring friendship between China and Mauritius and the growing bonds between their peoples.
