From intimate spaces to global perspectives: An international showcase of young Chinese writers

Are you curious about what the younger generation of Chinese writers is thinking—about their lives and the world they inhabit? What are their views on love, family, society, and the profound transformations they have witnessed over the past few decades?

From intimate spaces to global perspectives, the writing of young Chinese writers today encompasses every facet of contemporary Chinese life—marked by diverse styles, bold experimentation, and multi-layered contemplation. To engage with their works is to embark on a journey across the vast topography of China, from the far eastern coast and its islands to the remote western mountains and steppes.

In the newest session of the International Showcase of Young Chinese Writers, scheduled for 13 Oct from 15:00 to 17:00 (Session IV) and from 19:00 to 21:00 (Session V), you will have the opportunity to meet and listen to the stories of 26 young Chinese writers and explore their works—discovering for yourself their powerful voices resonating with the surging currents of our time.

Time: Oct 13, 15:00–17:00, 19:00–21:00 Beijing Time

Co-hosts: International Department of the China Writers Association, the National Library of China, and the Department of Chinese Literature of Renmin University

During the event, 10 young Chinese writers will share their works on site, 14 writers will speak online through Chinese–English simultaneous translation via ZOOM, and over 20 international critics, translators, and publishers will share their perspectives both offline and online—helping international readers understand contemporary Chinese writing in all its diversity and dynamism.
