Charity concert supports arts education for children

A charity concert featuring performances by Chinese singers and a children's choir was held in Beijing on Sept 9 to support music and arts education for children in Beichuan county, Sichuan province.

The 2026 Yuepu Music Garden Space Charity Concert was jointly presented by Tencent Music for Nonprofits and Bvlgari Hotel Beijing. The event featured performances by singer-songwriter Yuan Yawei, also known as Tia Ray, and singer-songwriter Liu Lian, actor and singer Zhang Xincheng, and singers Peng Chuyue and Xiao Jun, as well as a special performance by the Yuepu Music Garden Space Children's Choir.

The children's choir brought together students from Beichuan who are enrolled in the Yuepu Music Garden Space program. Tencent Music for Nonprofits and the Chen Yidan Foundation established the initiative, which has operated for eight years to offer music and arts education to children in mountainous areas.

The program currently serves more than 10 primary schools in Beichuan, with activities covering music curriculum development, teacher training, and the preservation of ethnic musical traditions. Music education is central to the program, giving children opportunities to learn, perform, and develop their artistic interests.

The concert also featured an exhibition of paintings by Beichuan children. The works were made available for purchase, with proceeds going to schools participating in the Yuepu program to support teaching and arts activities.

The concert marked a renewed partnership between Tencent Music for Nonprofits and Bvlgari Hotel Beijing, under which part of the revenue from three of the hotel's charity suites will be donated to the Yuepu Music Garden Space through 2027 — the suites feature cards drawn by the children from Beichuan.

A portion of the proceeds from charity cakes introduced in 2025 also support the program.
