Dalian woos Beijing with soccer and seaside escapes

In the heat of August, the coastal city of Dalian in Liaoning province has launched special tourism offers tied to the finale of the Northeast Super League soccer tournament, combining sports excitement with summer escapes.

A Dalian cultural and tourism promotion delegation traveled to Beijing on Aug 7 to showcase the coastal city's summer attractions and encourage visitors to experience the city through the excitement of sports. The delegation introduced more than 170 summer activities and highlighted special tourism discounts linked to the final home match of the soccer tournament.

The promotion event was held at Happy Valley Beijing, a popular theme park in Chaoyang district, and was organized by the Dalian Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism in cooperation with the cultural and tourism authorities of Shahekou district.

Combining the energy of sports with the charm of a seaside destination, the event opened with a lively dance performance that blended Dalian's romantic coastal character with the passion of athletic competition, drawing visitors to stop and watch.

A Dalian tourism representative then presented the city's diverse travel offerings, from the scenic coastline and vibrant urban atmosphere to relaxing island getaways and marine experiences.

Taking advantage of the growing popularity of the Northeast Super League soccer tournament, the delegation also promoted a special sightseeing initiative. From Aug 14 to 16, Dalian will join six other cities in Liaoning — Dandong, Jinzhou, Yingkou, Chaoyang, Panjin and Huludao — to offer free admission to 41 scenic attractions. Beijing's Chaoyang district residents can enjoy the benefits by presenting their identity cards.

The initiative is designed to encourage more visitors to combine watching soccer with exploring the region's cultural and natural attractions.

The promotion also featured interactive activities and giveaways, including local specialty products such as Dalian seafood gift boxes, cultural souvenirs and themed keepsakes.

The Dalian delegation's Beijing visit reflects the city's efforts to strengthen ties with one of its key visitor markets and deepen cultural and tourism cooperation between the two cities.

The Northeast Super League regular season finale will kick off on Aug 15 at Dalian's Suoyuwan Stadium, where the home team will face Hohhot. As soccer fever rises, Dalian is inviting visitors to enjoy both the thrill of the game and the refreshing appeal of a coastal summer.
