International sports competition opens in Qinghai

On the evening of Aug 8, the city of Delingha, Northwest China's Qinghai province, came alive with thousands of lights shining against the dark sky. People gathered from across the province for the opening ceremony of the 19th Qinghai Provincial Games and the 7th Qinghai Provincial Para Games.

With 37 delegations and more than 6,000 athletes competing, this is the highest-level, largest-scale, and most wide-ranging comprehensive sports event in Qinghai during the opening year of the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30).

The games' inauguration ceremony brought together some of China's leading creative talents. Renowned director Fu Zhitao served as the chief director, while professor Qian Qi of the Central Conservatory of Music served as music director and composer.

Together with a team of experienced professionals from across the industry, they worked with great dedication to create a spectacular artistic celebration.

With the theme "Beauty of Mountains and Rivers, Life Everlasting", the ceremony focused on the "Tree of Life" creative concept. The artistic performance was divided into three chapters: "The Call of Living Beings", "The Echo of Ecology" and "The Praise of Life". Approximately 1,500 performers participated in the production.

The stage design incorporated cutting-edge technologies, including glasses-free 3D, holographic projection and large-scale stage installations. Built upon a large LED floor screen, the stage created a 360-degree immersive experience, allowing the audience to feel surrounded by the performance.
