AI illuminates the world of blind artist

The experiences of Cao Shengkang demonstrate how technology can enrich a life and bring light into what was darkness.

With the help of AI, Cao, who lost his eyesight at age 8, has been able to travel and recently, to paint.

At the opening of his exhibition, A Traveler in Darkness, the audience saw how artificial intelligence tools have filled his world with colors again — helping him to identify hues that he vaguely remembers from early childhood, and to guide him to place strokes on canvas.

The exhibition at the Santo Hall gallery, in Beijing's 798 art zone, exhibits works in which he portrays himself as the central figure, fighting terror and showing his love to the world and people around him.
