Wuriqiefu explores humanity beyond the grasslands

The last time Wuriqiefu held a solo exhibition at the National Art Museum of China, he presented prints that reimagined ancient totemic motifs rooted in Mongolian culture — the wolf and white deer — through a modern lens. His use of rugged lines of primitive rock art, combined with an expressionist style, gave the works a unique sense of strength.

Now, he has returned to the same venue with The Eternal Earth — Exhibition of Artworks by Wuriqiefu, which brings together dozens of works, including his earlier prints as well as abstract oil paintings that reflect his artistic evolution since his previous exhibition.

Alongside his administrative role as head of the fine arts department at Minzu University of China, Wuriqiefu has continued to expand his artistic vision, moving beyond the grasslands and his ethnic heritage to contemplate life and explore broader concerns about humanity.

The exhibition runs through Sept 23.
