China and Pakistan marked the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations with a joint concert at Beijing’s iconic Badaling Great Wall on Sept 9.
The 2026 Beijing Great Wall Concert, themed “An Ode to Ironclad Friendship”, featured music and dance from both countries and was organized by the China International Cultural Communication Center and the embassy of Pakistan in Beijing.
Through performances, they showcased the cultural traditions of China and Pakistan, reflecting the long-standing ties between the two countries.
Pakistani Ambassador to China Khalil Hashmi said the Great Wall was a fitting venue for the anniversary. He also recalled the Badaling section’s restoration in 1989 between Watchtowers 6 and 7, which was supported by the Pakistani government.
Hashmi described the project as a symbol of Pakistan’s close ties with China. “Music gives voice to emotion, while dance gives it form and movement,” Hashmi said, adding that the arts offer a way for people to experience each other’s cultures.
The concert drew audiences from across China, along with Pakistani guests and former diplomats who had served in Beijing.
