Pingyao Film Festival announces two jury presidents

Veteran Hong Kong filmmaker Ann Hui On-wah and Italian film curator-writer Carlo Chatrian have been named jury presidents for two major honors at the 10th Pingyao Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon International Film Festival, scheduled to be held in Pingyao, Shanxi province, from Sept 24 to 30.

Hui will head the jury for the Fei Mu Awards, while Chatrian, director of the National Museum of Cinema in Turin, Italy, will preside over the Roberto Rossellini Awards. Other jury members are expected to be announced soon.

Named after the late filmmaker Fei Mu, the Fei Mu Awards were established by the festival to carry forward his artistic spirit and recognize outstanding Chinese-language films and filmmakers. The awards will honor works selected for the festival's Hidden Dragon section.

Established by the Rossellini family, the Roberto Rossellini Awards seek to carry forward the Italian filmmaker's humanistic spirit while recognizing outstanding films and emerging directors. They will be presented to international films by new directors competing in the Crouching Tigers section.
