In this episode, our host Samar Kerkeni, foreign expert at China Daily Website, sits down with Lin Daye, artistic director of the Wuxi Symphony Orchestra, to explore how classical music is taking roots in Wuxi, Jiangsu province — a city designated a "City of Music" by UNESCO.
Mr Lin took on the challenge of founding Wuxi's professional symphony from scratch. In just six months, he assembled a full ensemble through global auditions, turning a bold vision into a fully functioning orchestra. Three years on, Wuxi's classical music scene is thriving.
Looking ahead, Mr Lin aims to weave the orchestra deeper into Wuxi's cultural identity, with the ultimate goal of elevating it into one of Asia's finest ensembles. Click the video to find out more.
