A Chinese folk music concert was staged in Ottawa on July 5 as a special event for the International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations.

Chinese Ambassador to Canada Wang Di attended the event and addressed the audience. Around 700 participants and guests from various Canadian sectors, watched the performance by the Wuxi Chinese National Orchestra.

Wang said China-Canada cultural exchanges have reached a new starting point. China hopes to cooperate with Canada to boost mutual understanding through cultural interactions, strengthen people-to-people connections via exchanges between civilizations, and achieve more progress in bilateral cultural exchanges to benefit people of both countries.

The concert formed part of Ottawa's Music Without Borders Festival. The orchestra performed classic Chinese folk music pieces and collaborated with local Canadian musicians onstage to present works reflecting mutual learning between different civilizations.
