Marking the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Egypt, the Suzhou Symphony Orchestra embarked on a landmark cultural journey to Cairo, presenting two high-level concerts on June 10 and 11 that wove together Eastern elegance, Egyptian musical color, and global classical repertoire.
The opening concert featured a symbolic "dual conductor, dual concertmaster" format, with Chinese maestro Chen Xieyang and Egyptian conductor Ahmed El Saedi, who is the principal conductor and music director of the Cairo Symphony Orchestra, sharing the podium, while concertmasters from China and Egypt led the orchestra side by side.
