China and Spain are working to speed up the recovery of their respective tourism markets and to promote further cultural exchanges through more engaged two-way tourism, industry insiders said at "WTA • Dialogue for China-Spain Tourism Cooperation" held in Madrid on July 3, 2023.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of China-Spain diplomatic relations, and also the China-Spain Culture and Tourism Year. The dialogue, supported by China's Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Spain's Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism, was held by the World Tourism Alliance and TURESPAÑA in Madrid, Spain.
Hu Heping, minister of Culture and Tourism of China, said in his video address, that China and Spain are both ancient civilizations and major tourism countries, and they are important tourist markets and destinations for each other. "China stands ready to work with Spain through this event to follow through on the important common understandings between the leaders of our two countries, expand tourism cooperation and personnel exchanges within the framework of bilateral, multilateral and international tourism organizations such as the United Nations World Tourism Organization and the World Tourism Alliance, so as to promote the welfare of the Chinese and Spanish people, create new opportunities for tourism in both countries and provide new sources of the world’s economic development," Hu said.
