Guilin Municipal Gui Ju Opera Troupe of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region

The Guilin Municipal Gui Ju Opera Troupe grew out of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd Gui Opera Improving Troupe. The chief operas practiced and performed by the troupe include Tangli Flower, Liuliang and Lingling, Ge Nen Niang, Evergreen, Lubu and Diaochan, Turing the Dragon Palace Upside down, Forced up to Liangshan Mountain, Three Attacks to Zhujiazhuang Village, Beating the White Bone Demon Three times, Leopard Cat Instead of the Prince, Yongan City, Dong Yong Married Again to Fairy Maiden Seven, Daughter of Flower King, Yu Jiaolong, Meng Lijun, Family Case, etc. In 1958, at the 1st Guangxi Opera Exhibition Performance, its operas Stopping the Horse, Two Person Worshipping the Moon, Two Persons Going down the Mountain, Mukezhai Village -- won Excellent Performance Prize, its performers -- Xiao Lankui, Su Zhixian, Tang Minggang, Yu Furong and Wan Qiongxian won Excellent Performer Prize. In 1992, at the 3rd Guangxi Opera Exhibition, opera -- the Story of Concubine Yaofei won 1st grade Osmanthus Prize, performers Zeng Dingguo, Zhang Shuping and Luo Guixia won Excellent Performer Prize. In 1993, this opera won the Bronze Drum Prize presented by Guangxi regional government, as well as Wenhua New Drama Prize presented by the Ministry of Culture after being showed in Zhongnanhai Lake. Zhang Shuping -- the performer for the drama -- won Wenhua Performance Prize. In 1994, at the 4th Guangxi Opera Exhibition, Great Bearing of Young Girls of Zhuang Nationality won 1st grade prize. In November 1997, at the 2nd Youth Opera Performer Competition, Getting out of the Trunk with Golden Cudgel, Fairy Maiden Spreading Flowers and Yang Kaihui won 1st and 2nd prizes respectively. In 1998, Monkey King Getting out of the Trunk took part in the CCTV Spring Festival Gala, won the 3rd grade Pear Orchard Cup, and getting the honor of being one of the national audiences' favorite programs. In July 1998, its highlights of operas Killing Her Own Son, Huang Zhong Hurt with Arrows, Fighting in the Hall and Two Persons Worshipping the Moon were included in CCTV Art Essence Galaxy and showed nation wide. In 1990 and 1996, the troupe visited Hong Kong twice, Singapore and Middle East region once.
