As the hobby grows in popularity, Liang has noticed sticker brands exploring a wide range of new styles and concepts.

Some brands are focusing on Chinese aesthetics, drawing inspiration from intangible cultural heritage and traditional opera. Others are creating soothing, story-driven scenes that capture the warmth of everyday life — such as a spring courtyard or a winter island — the kinds of spaces many young enthusiasts long for. Some are also experimenting with gaming-style experiences, allowing users to step into pixel-art worlds.

"Unlike the happiness that comes from simply buying something, diorama stickers offer the satisfaction of creating joy with your own hands," Liang said.

Whether twisting a plastic loop, polishing a gourd, or layering stickers onto miniature scenes, these activities share a common feature: repetitive hand movements that participants say help them find a controllable, calming rhythm amid uncertainty.
