Chinese competitor Shi Yue won the first prize for Junior Group |
The 26th Varna International Ballet Competition concluded with Chinese competitor Shi Yue winning first prize among all the young competitors on July 30.
The Varna International Ballet Competition, also called the “Ballet Olympics”, is the largest, the oldest and the most influential competition in the world. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the competition and 117 competitors from 30 countries participated.
Shi Yue was the only Chinese competitor recommended by the Liaoning Ballet and he won the first prize smoothly after three rounds of competition.
Bulgarian Vice President Margarita Popova, the mayor of Varna, and ambassadors to Bulgaria attended the award ceremony and the closing ceremony. Chinese cultural counselor to Bulgari Yin Yali was also present at the award ceremony.
