Initiated by the Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 220) and reaching its peak during the Tang Dynasty (618-907), the Silk Road was an ancient trade artery connecting Asia, Europe, and Africa. It not only facilitated the exchange of silk and spices between East and West, but also served as a bridge for sharing culture. Named by German geographer Ferdinand von Richthofen in 1877, the “Chang’an-Tianshan Corridor” was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2014. This millennia-old route stands as China’s first “open” invitation to the world, symbolizing enduring cultural exchange.
