Zhenguan era

The political, social and cultural vitality achieved during the reign of Li Shimin, or Emperor Taizong, the second ruler of the Tang Dynasty (618-907), laid a foundation for the empire's enduring prosperity. His rule later came to be known as zhenguan zhizhi, or the Reign of Zhenguan, after his era's title.

The Everlasting Ode to the Zhenguan Reign, now on view at Nanshan Museum in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, turns the spotlight on this defining period. As Tang poet Du Fu wrote, "The illustrious achievements of Emperor Taizong stand as a monument of grandeur". Bringing together more than 140 objects from the collections of several museums nationwide, the exhibition traces how a dynasty rose from turbulence, restored stability, and translated ideals of peace into tangible systems, ways of life and lasting cultural legacies. It runs until May 17.

10 am-6 pm, Tuesday to Sunday, admission extended till 9 pm on Saturday. 2093 Nanshan Avenue, Nanshan district, Shenzhen, Guangdong province. 0755-8670-0071.
