The National Ballet of China recently captivated audiences with its annual public assessment performances held at the Tianqiao Theater in Beijing on May 11 and 12, showcasing a mesmerizing display of talent and artistry.
In a groundbreaking move, the shows were broadcast online, drawing an impressive viewership of over 800,000 individuals who tuned in to witness the spectacular performances.
The repertoire featured classic ballet masterpieces such as Swan Lake, Don Quixote, Giselle, and The Red Detachment of Women, skillfully interpreted by the company's esteemed dancers, including principal performer Qiu Yunting, and dancers Li Wentao and Ning Long.
Initiated in 2012 with the visionary project "Chasing Dreams", the National Ballet of China's public assessment aims to spotlight the dancers' technical prowess while igniting inspiration for them to showcase their talent across various proficiency levels.
Feng Ying, the company's director, emphasized that the public assessment serves as a platform to engage audiences, offering them insight into the company's rigorous training regimen and promotion process. Additionally, spectators were encouraged to participate by voting for their favorite dancers, further enhancing the interactive nature of the event.
