The Dong'an Lake Sports Center consists of a grade-A sports center that can accommodate 40,000 people, a large gym with 18,000 seats, a swimming and diving hall and a small comprehensive arena.
It will hold activities such as the opening ceremony of the Universiade, gymnastics, swimming competitions and serve as training venue.
Represented by the Dong'an Lake Sports Center, 49 newly built, renovated and expanded venues for the Chengdu Universiade were completed in April 2021 following the concept of "world-class quality, landmark features and sustainable development".
The venues reach international standards in terms of function and service and have conducted various test competitions, special drills and all-element drills in the past three years.
As an important functional carrier to guarantee services, the Chengdu Universiade Village in the campus of Chengdu University was completed in March 2021. Covering an area of about 800,000 square meters, it can accommodate about 11,000 people.
The village will become the home of international youth, providing various services such as accommodation, catering, fitness, business, leisure and entertainment and boosting cultural exchanges among the delegations from around the world.
A representative from the village said that the area has a fitness center with two floors and a total construction area of 3,077 sq m. It provides weight and cardiopulmonary training for athletes.
"The fitness center is the largest of all Universiade villages in terms of area, space layout and the number of facilities and can fully meet the various needs of athletes," he said.
Chengdu has endeavored to create a smart Universiade by using new technologies such as 5G, 8K, internet of things, cloud computing, artificial intelligence and big data.
Using these, they have built systems of information, management and service and have applied them to the smart functions of venue management, game viewing experience, media communications and other scenarios.
In terms of transportation, Chengdu will allocate more than 1,700 new energy vehicles as the service buses for the Universiade.
