The 11th International Folk Art Festival is scheduled to be held from Aug 23-28 in Hohhot, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, announced the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles recently.

Officials said that this year the festival will be organized by the governments of Inner Mongolia and Hohhot and the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles. Organizers will invite over 300 artists from 13 countries, particularly from Belt and Road countries.

Dong Zhanshun, director of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, said that this year dancers from Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Macao are invited to participate in street dance performances with Hohhot artists.

With the increasing popularity of the folk art festival, more and more foreign art groups are applying to participate, according to Dong.

He said that artists from all over the world will perform in a variety of styles, showcasing the richness and diversity of folk art.

First launched in 1990, the international folk art festival won approval from the central government and is designed to promote Chinese folk art around the world. It has been a gathering place for folk art and folk art admirers for decades. Up to now, over 3,000 artists from 162 art groups in 65 countries have participated in the event.
