The Guofeng Symphony concert lit up Beijing Concert Hall on May 14, bringing together Chinese folk traditions and symphonic grandeur in a bold contemporary performance.

Composed by internationally acclaimed Chinese composer Zhang Xiaofu and conducted by Jin Ye, the concert featured the Zhejiang Symphony Orchestra alongside a lineup of virtuoso soloists. The production adopted an innovative format that paired dual folk-instrument solos with full orchestral accompaniment.

Zhang, a leading figure in electronic and orchestral music, transformed 12 classic Chinese folk songs into a rich symphonic tapestry, capturing regional customs, everyday life, and cultural memory. The dialogue between traditional instruments and the orchestra created a dramatic, immersive experience, offering audiences both the charm of folk music and the power of symphonic sound.

Highlights included Yimeng Mountain, Flying Song, and Moon Dance, each showcasing distinctive regional flavors. The concert celebrated the creative fusion of East and West, presenting Chinese culture through an international symphonic language.
