"Expectation", Svetlin Russev, 1984, oil on canvas

The only figure in this painting is an old woman sitting beside a clear desk inside a house, or a coffee shop with two empty chairs placed in front of her. The coloring is what that makes this drawing unique.

Russev is a representative of contemporary Bulgarian art. Colors play a key role in settling the atmosphere in his expressive work. The theme and colors are in a perfect match: the red chair reflects the woman's great expectations. In a simple way, Russev displayed an exquisite picture of the woman's emotion.[Photo provided to]
