Hubei acrobats take 'Bloom in the Extreme' production to Shanghai

Bloom in the Extreme, an original contemporary acrobatic production that brings together theatre, dance, music and multimedia visuals, will stage two performances at the Magnolia Theatre in Shanghai on Nov 7. Through five acts, the performance traces the journey from the beginning of life toward spiritual transcendence.

The production features leading acrobatic artists from Xishui, Huanggang, Hubei province — renowned as the "Hometown of Acrobats". Highlight of the show includes A Feather, an act that won silver in the inaugural edition of Nikulin Moscow Circus International Festival "ARTIST" in Russia in 2023.

Extraordinary acrobatic traditions from Hubei are transformed into a compelling stage narrative about courage, trust and the vitality of life. In Bloom in the Extreme, the human body becomes more than a vessel for technical skill: it becomes a language through which stories of life are told.

Across these five acts, strength meets technique, trust develops between bodies, audiences hold their breath in the face of danger, and freedom and beauty emerge as performers push beyond their limits.
