Beijing museum showcases Shaanxi folk arts

The high-pitched mountain songs, tender minor tunes, and vibrant work chants are all representative styles of Shannan folk singing, popular in Shaanxi province.

Folk artists from Hanzhong, a historical city nestled in southern Shaanxi, brought this lively heritage to Beijing, enhancing the festive atmosphere and entertaining visitors of the Chinese Traditional Culture Museum during the Mid-Autumn Festival.

The performances were part of Hanzhong's intangible cultural heritage lineup promoted at the museum — many booths showcased vine weaving, embroidery and lacquer in the museum's central hall.

This unique mini arts-and-crafts bazaar is a regular program at the Chinese Traditional Culture Museum, allowing people to experience the diversity of heritage from region to region.
