Government officials, business leaders, and scholars from home and abroad gathered Thursday in Tacheng prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, for the 2026 Xinjiang Tacheng Baktu Forum on cross-border regional cooperation.

The event used Baktu Port, which borders Kazakhstan, to foster economic and cultural exchanges between Tacheng and countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.

Organized by the prefectural government and the China International Council for the Promotion of Multinational Corporations (‌CICPMC), this year's edition featured high-level policy discussions, industrial promotion, achievement presentations, and matchmaking, alongside an industry exhibition and field research.

At the opening ceremony, Chinese and foreign guests shared insights on cross-border industrial upgrading, enhancing opening-up, and innovation in international economic and trade cooperation as suggestions for Tacheng to deepen trade ties with Eurasian countries and promote the high-quality development of its port economy.

Andrey Petrovich Pazibin, Chairman of the Foreign Economic Activity Committee of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Russia's Ulyanovsk Region, said the forum had become a valuable platform for countries to align their industries, connect technologically, and expand trade. It also helps deepen cross-border industrial and supply chain integration and boosts opening-up in border regions.
