The splendor of Changbai Mountain draws in visitors

Boosted by China's visa facilitation policies, Changbai Mountain in Jilin province has drawn growing numbers of inbound tourists with its breathtaking natural scenery. From March 31 to April 30, the scenic area is offering free admission to visitors from around the world at its north and west slopes. At an altitude of 2,189 meters, its volcanic lake, Tianchi, presents dramatically different scenes across the four seasons. But here's the catch: official data show that visitors can only see its fully clear, sapphire-blue waters about 50 days a year.
