A highlight of the evening was the special participation of Ouyang Fenqiang, who played Jia Baoyu, one of the leading roles in the 1987 television adaptation. Ouyang, also a veteran director, served as the special narrator for the event. On stage, his tender and heartfelt narration connected the music and story, creating a dialogue between the classic on-screen version and the live performance. The audience was transported through the integration of melodies and narration.
"After 40 years, it is profoundly meaningful for me to return to Dream of the Red Chamber as a narrator. To collaborate with the Suzhou Symphony Orchestra and bring the story and music of the classic to the audience in Xinjiang is an extraordinary experience," said Ouyang after the performance.
