Suzhou Symphony Orchestra revives literary classic

In this performance, the Suzhou Symphony Orchestra used music to reimagine the classic for modern times, blending melodies, vocal performances, and narrative elements to express the humanistic essence of the work.

A Dream of Red Mansions‌ — Resound centers on the narrative threads of "city", "garden" and "dream", with seven major sections, including "prologue into the city", "entering the dream" and "dream shattered".

The performance included iconic pieces adapted from Wang's compositions, such as the Red Chamber Overture, Wang Ning Mei, and Funeral of Flowers. While retaining the charm of the original music, the symphonic arrangement enriched the melodies with deeper emotional intensity and spatial layers, giving the classic compositions a new depth and vibrancy.
