Sichuan's peach, plum blossom festival drives rural income growth

With spring temperatures rising, peach and plum blossoms blanket the hillsides of Xinyuan township in Peng'an county, Sichuan province, becoming a driver of rural vitalization and income growth for local farmers.

The 16-day peach and plum blossom festival, which kicked off in the township on Tuesday, has drawn throngs of visitors. Here, they can enjoy a rich tapestry of experiences, such as meandering through flower-covered paths, capturing the spring scenery with their cameras, savoring local delicacies, and shopping for farm-fresh produce.

This year's event also features an online photography contest, a Douyin (Chinese version of TikTok) hashtag challenge, and live-streamed tours by social media influencers. These initiatives aim to enrich the festival's cultural appeal further and enhance the reputation and market influence of the local peach and blossom economy.
