At this year's China International Travel Mart held in Hainan province in mid-December, veteran travel agents from Singapore and China's Macao SAR shared their observations on the island's remarkable tourism transformation with China Daily Website.
Jiang Huijun, president of Singapore-based Jun-Air Travel, said Hainan, particularly Sanya and Boao, has seen significant development since she began promoting the island's luxury tourism overseas about 15 years ago. She noted that Hainan's hotels, beaches, hot springs, golf courses, and MICE (meetings, incentives, conventions, and exhibitions) facilities have become increasingly mature.
"Many more beaches have been developed into tourist-friendly resorts," Jiang said, adding that she plans to promote high-end and long-stay vacation packages and recommend Hainan as a destination for major exhibitions.
Macao-based travel agent Paco Ng (Wu Weihong) said that, since his first visit eight years ago, Hainan has added more luxury hotels and improved its infrastructure.
He highlighted the island's appeal to Macao tourists of all ages, citing its long coastline, ethnic culture, cuisine, and diverse activities — such as helicopter tours and diving — as well as the convenient one-hour flight from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to Haikou.
Both agents expressed strong confidence in Hainan's growing appeal as a premier destination with increasing international recognition.
