The China National Theatre for Children announced on Tuesday that its new, large-scale children's musical The Nightingale will premiere this Saturday in Beijing, with performances running until January 18, 2026. The show is being offered as a special New Year's gift to young audiences across the country.
Adapted from the eponymous fairy tale by Danish author Hans Christian Andersen, The Nightingale retains the core spirit of the original while boldly integrating modern elements.
Director Mao Ernan explained that the production seeks to convey the beauty of truth and sincerity to children through the melodious song of the nightingale and a dreamy, magical stage design.
