The Puyuan scenic area in Zhejiang province is all set to usher in the new year with a range of activities, including a lantern show, a market selling luxurious woolen garments, long table feasts, musical performances, waterborne spectacles, and art exhibitions.
Starting on Jan 1, tourists can take part in a "time-travel" experience, which will draw on Puyuan's historical surroundings to transport them to the Song Dynasty (960-1279). Festivities from the era, such as brewing tea around a hearth, dance parties, and the lighting ceremony for Kongming lanterns, China's well-known floating sky lanterns, will be brought to vivid life.
Visitors will also be able to savor a variety of traditional new year delicacies, engage in hands-on activities at artisanal workshops, and immerse themselves in folk customs like dragon and lion dances.
