Examining a question of identity

His life experiences led him to reflect on his own identity, a question shared by many Hong Kong residents whose ancestors moved from the Chinese mainland to Hong Kong in the last century.

"For my father's generation and mine, there's still a sense of belonging when it comes to our ancestral home. A clear indication of this is when we filled out application forms and were asked 'what part of China are you from', we would write Taishan," Ng says.
