"We always take industries as the key to rural development, implement targeted measures for each village, promote suitable farming, breeding, and afforestation activities, develop characteristic industries such as medicinal peppers, oilseeds, nuts, livestock and tea," said a local official.
Longnan has established five industry chains for walnuts, Sichuan peppers, olives, Chinese medicinal materials and tea, constructed industrial parks, and formed the model of "one park, one industry chain, one village, and one distinctive feature" in each county.
The scale of characteristic industries in the city has stabilized at 10 million mu, or 667,000 hectares, with an annual output value of 24 billion yuan. It also strengthens the protection of cultural relics and heritage sites such as ancient villages, residences, buildings and trees, and is developing rural tourism according to the local conditions, covering sightseeing, leisure, health and folk customs experiences.
