From July 2 to 6, the 28th International Union of Architects World Congress of Architects was held in Copenhagen, Denmark, under the title "Sustainable Futures – Leave No One Behind!" During the congress, Zhang Li, dean of the School of Architecture at Tsinghua University, was elected as vice president.
Zhang previously served as deputy director of the Engineering Planning Department of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2022 Olympic Winter Games and chief planner of the Zhangjiakou Cluster, and was responsible for the design of the National Ski Jumping Center "Snow Ruyi" and "Big Air Shougang."
The UIA World Congress of Architects, held triennially, is organized by the UIA and UNESCO.
Beijing has been chosen as the host city for the 30th UIA World Congress of Architects, scheduled to take place in 2029. The city previously hosted the 20th UIA World Congress of Architects in 1999, and after a span of thirty years, it will once again welcome attendees from the world over.
