Under the influence of strong cold front, Yangming Mountain in Yongzhou, Hunan province, received its first snow and rime recently.
The forest coverage on the mountain, a national forest park, is 98 percent. The majority of the park lies at altitudes above 1,000 meters. It is home to 20 national protected wild plant species.
The park has the largest community of yew, Taxus chinensis, in South China.
