As the first Sino-US space educational film shot with IMAX cameras, Asteroid Hunters recently held a special screening during the 24th Shanghai International Film Festival, drawing a number of fans.

The 38-minute film, which is narrated by Star Wars actress Daisy Ridley, takes a fascinating look at asteroids, their cosmic origins and the potential threat they pose to our world.

With John Debney, a three-time winner of Primetime Emmy Awards, serving as the music composer, the film also has some world-renowned scientists to be on board.

The special screening held in a downtown Shanghai cinema on July 15 also took a retrospective of the history of IMAX educational films, including how the first IMAX camera was used by NASA to join a space shuttle mission.

Jessie Chou, chief marketing officer of IMAX China, said China has been making breakthroughs in the field of space exploration in recent years, adding the company wishes to cooperate with more Chinese filmmakers to make such films blending science and art.
