Beijing museum celebrates Mid-Autumn Festival with folk customs and music

The Beijing Folklore Museum celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival from Sept 25 to 27 with a series of cultural activities combining traditional folk customs, music performances and a Chinese-style cultural market in a historical setting.

On Sept 25, the museum, which is located within Dongyue Temple, a historical complex with more than 700 years of history, launched seven themed activities, offering visitors a chance to experience traditional customs associated with old Beijing.

A string quartet performed Mid-Autumn-themed music in the museum's historical courtyard, while a display titled "Jade Rabbit Emerging from the Mountain" featured Lord Rabbit, also known as tu'er ye, a traditional rabbit figurine closely associated with Beijing's Mid-Autumn celebrations. The colorful figures were displayed in a miniature mountain landscape, and visitors could paint their own tu'er ye figures.
