Many performances in February and March were canceled in China due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

The National Center for the Performing Arts took the same measure and will see its activities resume on April 7.

But in the meantime, the center has found other ways to help people in quarantine appreciate art.

One is an online program named Art Mini Class, which has invited Peking Opera artist Hu Wenge, dancer Wang Yabin and violist Lv Siqing to respectively lecture on Peking Opera, traditional Chinese dance and violin.

In the latest class, Lv gave advice to young people on learning the violin. As the first Asian violinist to win first prize at the Paganini Competition in 1987, Lv’s interpretation of the violin concerto Butterfly Lovers has generally been acknowledged as one of the best.

As young learners must face countless competitions, Lv also shared his understanding of contests and the success and failure brought by them.
