Silk Road, Flower Rain
The classical Chinese dance drama Silk Road, Flower Rain, hailed by many as China's Swan Lake, will be performed at the Tianqiao Performing Arts Center this weekend. It's among 130 performances during this year's Meet in Beijing Arts Festival.
With the world-renowned frescos in Mogao Caves and the ancient Silk Road as its inspiration and peace and friendship as its theme, Silk Road, Flower Rain dramatizes the magnificent frescos in a unique artistic style, narrating a story of friendship and love among fresco master painter Zhang, his daughter Yingniang and a Persian merchant. The father-daughter duo saved the dying merchant along the ancient Silk Road during the Tang Dynasty (AD 618 - 907).
