Prince Kung's Palace Museum turns museum day into cultural bridge

Another highlight was a public education course inspired by the ongoing exhibition Enduring Legacy of Harmony and Beauty: An Exhibition on the History and Culture of the Mufu Mansion in Lijiang. Families explored the architectural differences and connections between the northern-style princely mansion in Beijing and the historical Mufu Mansion in Lijiang, known for blending Han, Naxi, Bai and Tibetan cultural influences. Children also painted decorative motifs inspired by both sites and experimented with roof models to better understand how traditional architecture adapted to local climates and environments.

The museum also extended its programs beyond its own walls. On May 17, families joined a walking study tour through Beijing's Shichahai area, tracing waterways, bridges and landmarks connected to the Grand Canal and the city's Central Axis. Experts were invited to explain the historical role of sites and the relationship between water systems and urban planning in old Beijing.
