The Love, New Zealand’s first Chinese film, was released at the New Market Rialto Cinema in Auckland on July 31.

The 90-minute-long movie tells an urban love story of young Chinese people living in Auckland, a city far away from their homeland. Flashback, playback and other techniques were applied in this film to put some seemingly unrelated tragic-comedies together. The film will last for four weeks.

The premiere was held at the New Market Rialto Cinema by OK Design Ltd on late July 24. Producer Kang Xiaojiao, director Li Xuan and seven main actors attended the event. Kang Xiaoqiao said the film aims to spread Chinese culture to the world and demonstrate the talent of young Chinese people in New Zealand. This film is also a test for creating Chinese film culture in New Zealand.
