A deeper understanding of Uzbekistan's changing political and economic landscape is now within reach of Chinese readers, with the launch of a new book offering a window into the country's development priorities, reform agenda and international ambitions over the past five years.

The Chinese edition of Uzbekistan on the Path to Sustainable Development and Prosperity was launched in Beijing on Oct 30, bringing together key speeches and policy perspectives of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev from 2021 to 2025.

Published by the People's Publishing House, the book brings together 55 speeches and addresses delivered by Mirziyoyev at key meetings and events from 2021 to 2025, alongside several exclusive interviews and signed articles.

The collection offers a comprehensive account of the president's views on domestic reforms, national development and international cooperation, providing insights into Uzbekistan's governance strategies and its approach to global engagement, said Liu Qing, vice-president of the China Institute of International Studies, at the launch ceremony.

"It not only offers Chinese readers insights into Uzbekistan's domestic and foreign policies, but also serves as a valuable primary source for observing the development and transformation of the entire Central Asian region," he said.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the China-Uzbekistan comprehensive strategic partnership. In 2024, the two countries elevated their relationship to an all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership for a new era.

Liu noted that the book places particular emphasis on Uzbekistan's commitment to strengthening ties with China. It covers a range of topics, from the Belt and Road Initiative and the China-Central Asia Summit to the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway and a range of other bilateral cooperation initiatives.

"President Mirziyoyev's insights vividly illustrate the high-level development of the all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Uzbekistan in the new era," he said.

The publication will help Chinese researchers better understand Uzbekistan's policies, culture, and China-Uzbekistan relations, contributing to efforts to build a shared future between the two countries, Liu said.

He added that the China Institute of International Studies would also strengthen cooperation with Uzbek think tanks and universities through joint research, practical collaboration, academic exchanges and youth dialogue, helping nurture the next generation of experts on bilateral relations.
