Cassian Stewart-Kasimba, known simply as Cassian, is a 38-year-old Grammy Award-winning Australian DJ, producer and mixing engineer now based in Los Angeles. Returning to Shanghai for a show after 10 years in January, he also sees a rapidly growing "strong appetite and solid support" for electronic music in the city and the nation, which he described as a "whole different world".
"The crowd in China is so enthusiastic and energetic. I've never seen such an amazing production of this scale in an indoor space before, and I'm grateful to be part of this fantastic show," he says, expecting to come back with more works and shows in the next year.
As the nation's electronic music market continues to grow, The Magic of Tomorrowland is firmly committed to bridging China and the world in this sector, bringing internationally recognized artists to the Chinese community and introducing domestic artists on the global stage.
"We exist to create experiences that connect people. Together, with like-minded teams, we hope to bring the magic back to Shanghai again in festival format. We can't wait to bring more of these connecting experiences to China," says Danny Tang, CEO and co-founder of Hero Esports.
Debby Wilmsen, spokesperson at Tomorrowland, adds that China has always opened its arms to the festival, and returning for a second year with local partners is a privilege.
"Shanghai's Tomorrowland is one of a kind — the stage, the lineup, the crowd. To see the Tomorrowland experience take root here and to watch the EDM scene grow with us is something we're truly proud of," says Wilmsen.
