An event celebrating cultural and tourism exchange between Beijing, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and Hanoi, Vietnam was held at the China Cultural Center in Hanoi, Vietnam on Oct 23.

The courtyard of the China Cultural Center in Hanoi was bustling with activity. Photo boards featuring Peking Opera characters drew guests eager for selfies, while intangible cultural heritage experience booths offered hands-on activities such as Guangxi Zhuang brocade bookmark and hair accessory DIY, hand-painted oil-paper umbrellas, paper-cutting, bamboo weaving, Beijing tu'er ye (ceramic rabbit figurine) painting, rubbing prints, and Peking Opera velvet flower making.

Tea-tasting areas serving Guangxi liubao tea and Beijing-style jasmine-flower tea offered a fragrant blend of mellow and elegant flavors. An AI technology zone featuring VR and AR glasses, dual-screen translators, and smart travel glasses highlighted the fusion of tradition and innovation.

The "Nihao! Beijing" photo exhibition — showcasing the ancient capital, modern Beijing, and tech-driven Beijing — attracted many visitors. Artists from China and Vietnam also performed Chinese-style dances, a maguhu solo, a guzheng-erhu duet, and a Vietnamese instrumental ensemble, earning warm applause.

During the tourism promotion session, presenters introduced the scenery, cuisine, transportation, policies, and travel routes of Beijing and Guangxi, while a representative from Air China's Hanoi office outlined the convenience of China-Vietnam flight networks and connectivity policies. A lucky draw added excitement to the event.

The event, according to the organizers, is part of efforts to mark the "China-Vietnam Tourism Cooperation Year" and to carry out the agreement between the two countries' leaders on boosting people-to-people exchanges. They hope it will bring Beijing, Guangxi and Hanoi closer in tourism, open up more cross-border travel routes and make it easier for visitors to travel between them.

Vietnamese officials said that Vietnam and China — connected by mountains and rivers — are important tourism markets for each other and enjoy huge potential for cooperation. The event provided opportunities for tourism authorities, local governments, and enterprises to exchange and cooperate, and help promote people-to-people bonds. Vietnam will continue to advance bilateral tourism cooperation.

Chinese organizers said the event is not only a joint showcase of Beijing and Guangxi's cultural and tourism resources, but also a sincere invitation to Vietnamese friends to visit China. Culture and tourism will serve as a bridge to tighten ties among the three places and make their encounters a vivid testament to China-Vietnam friendship.

The event was co-hosted by the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, and the China Cultural Center in Hanoi.
