What happens when 25 artists from 14 countries spend five days wandering through Zhejiang province?
Before their brushes even touched canvas, they studied the Archaeological Ruins of Liangzhu City, explored the Grand Canal, and lingered by the misty West Lake. They caught the scent of osmanthus drifting through autumn streets, tasted tea that Hangzhou has brewed for centuries, and let ancient legends—from the White Snake beneath Leifeng Pagoda to the drama of Wuju Opera—sink in.
Then, they painted. The result is Silk Road: Artists' Rendezvous — Poetic Echoes of Civilization, a new exhibition that opened on Oct 17 in Hangzhou featuring more than 40 works that embody the essence of "Picturesque Zhejiang”.
