Henan, Gyeongsangbuk-do hold calligraphy and painting exchange

A delegation led by Hwang Myoungsuk, vice-governor of Gyeongsangbuk-do, South Korea, recently visited Henan province for a series of activities highlighting the growing friendship between the two regions.

A calligraphy and painting art exchange exhibition between Henan and Gyeongsangbuk-do was held in Zhengzhou, Henan province. Hwang emphasized that art and culture serve as mediums that cross language barriers. The exhibition featured more than 80 works by artists from China and South Korea.

"Through this exhibition, we hope people in Henan can experience the artistic charm of Gyeongsangbuk-do, while Korean visitors gain a deeper understanding of the Henan culture," Hwang said during the visit.

Wang Xiangjie, deputy director-general of the Henan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, delivered the opening speech, noting that Henan and Gyeongsangbuk-do have maintained sister-province ties for more than 30 years. "As the cradle of Chinese civilization, Henan boasts a long heritage of calligraphy and painting, while Gyeongsangbuk-do also has a rich history and enduring artistic traditions," Wang said.

As part of the activities, intangible cultural heritage from both regions was also displayed, and a sister city art gala was held, showcasing the charm of regional cultures.
